The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, commonly known as Brå, opened a new investigation targeting the critical link between crime and immigration. But Henrik Tham, Professor Emeritus in Criminology, is now questioning the point of such an investigation.

Brå has changed the question of mapping the link between crime and Muslim immigration.
“It can now be acknowledged, that the growing demand in the community debate requesting for updated information on the relationship between crime on one hand, and descent and migration on the other hand, is so strong that the government needs to reconsider opportunities again,” claims the agency Brå in a press release on Tuesday.
Henrik Tham, a professor emeritus in criminology, is opposed to the investigation by Brå who appear to be “pressed” to make an investigation for political reasons, In addition, such an investigation would not provide the Swedish public any new knowledge, he claims.
According to Tham, there are already multiple studies on the subject, and all indicate the same – there is an “over-risk” of rape crime among Muslim immigrants. But Tham clumps all forms of immigration together and claims that the overcurrence of crime is general among immigrant groups – irrelevant of where they originally come from.
“There is an over-risk in general, whether it concerns labor immigration, refugee immigration or other immigration, and no matter what part of the world they come from. It shows that there is nothing specific for a particular group of people from a particular country,” explains Henrik Tham.
The professor is also critical of the fact that there are several political parties who group “sexual offenses committed by men” with a particular immigrant background.
Tham explicitly states that the purpose of criminal policy should not be to reduce rape with offenders from a particular country because, according to him, it would only have a marginal effect on security and the total crime level. A new study should aim to close Sweden’s borders, and Brå will not do that, he claims.
However on the contrary, in the surveys conducted during the media uproar of rape and shootings by immigrants, some areas and countries appear to be eliminated.
Aftonblad’s survey on group violence shows that 99 out of 112 perpetrators have a foreign background. Of the 112 convicted offenders, 82 are born outside of Europe. With the exception of the foreign-born perpetrators with Swedish citizenship, the most common offenders originate from Afghanistan (25), Iraq (9) and Somalia (7).
DN conducted a survey last year investigating the murder and assassination attempts by firearms. The result was that 9 out of 10 offenders have a foreign background. The vast majority of men, around 80 percent, are originally Muslim from the Middle East and Northern Africa. Most of the criminals come from Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Turkey, Somalia and Eritrea.
Another report in the Express from last year showed that more than 94 percent of gang criminals in Stockholm are immigrants. The country of origin that stands out is Iraq, but many also come from Bosnia, Lebanon, Somalia, Syria and Turkey.
Of the sexual crimes in Sweden, which reviewed four thousand cases between 2012-2017, shows that persons with extra-European descent commit 84 percent of gross rape. That category is topped off by Afghans, Iraqis and Somalis.
According to the study, the national groups who have the highest factor (probability) to commit rape and sexual attacks are Algerians, Afghans, Tunisians, Moroccans and Palestinians.
A shocking 95.6 percent of assault violence in Sweden is committed by men of foreign descent. In contrast, Swedish men with two native-born parents are responsible for a mere 4.4 percent of assault violence over the last five years.
“It is unimaginable that there is 541 times the risk that an Algerian man commits assault rifle than a Swedish man [does it]”, states the report.
90 percent of group violence is committed by men with overseas descent and every fourth rapist is originally from Afghanistan. In contrast, Swedish men with two native-born parents are responsible for only 6.7 percent of group violence in the last five years.
