A 55-year-old man from the Swedish town of Jönköping has been handed a SEK 10,000 ($1,265) fine for crime of opinion after writing on Facebook that Sunni Muslims account for a lot of the gang-related crimes and rapes committed in Sweden.

Prosecutor Lisa Hedberg chose to take legal action against the man after his post on the Facebook group “Now is enough! I want re-election now!” in April 2017. The public group has close to 13,000 members and is opposed to the actions of Sweden’s incumbent “red-green” government.
The man’s own wording went as follows:
“Somalis are Sunni Muslim, they have the same orientation as Saudi Arabia, with sharia law & other s*it… They account for a lot of gang crime in Sweden and other violent stuff like rapes. Afghans are also up to 80 percent Sunni, the damn pack.”
Hedberg concluded that the man expressed himself in a “criminally derogatory” manner regarding Muslims, Somalis and Afghans, based on creed, national or ethnic origin.
During the trial, the defendant stated that he believed in the idea that freedom of speech existed in Sweden and on Facebook.

Hedberg concluded that the man expressed himself in a “criminally derogatory” manner regarding Muslims, Somalis and Afghans, based on creed, national or ethnic origin.During the trial, the defendant stated that he believed in the idea that freedom of speech existed in Sweden and on Facebook.
“You see it every day, things like gang rapes, shootings, animal cruelty and the like, and politicians do not seem to be able to do anything about it. The police also do nothing, and people get angry,” he was quoted as saying by the Fria Tider.
The man also claimed Muslims account for at least 80 percent of rape and other sexual crimes in Sweden.
“I wrote this as a regular citizen, not as a politician or activist. I see that this can be perceived as controversial if one is politically correct,” he continued.
Nevertheless, the Jönköping District Court was inexorable, as judge Lisa Vilander found that the post was formulated in an abusive way and instead of inviting a discussion on matters of religion voiced hate against a group of people.
Although the taboo on disclosing criminals’ ethnicity remains in force in Sweden, a private survey from October 2017 revealed immigrants’ drastic overrepresentationin sexual assaults, with men of foreign descent allegedly committing over 90 percent of rapes. The 80-page investigation involved over 4,000 rulings from 40 Swedish courts between 2012 and 2014, that is before the recent migrant crisis, during which over 200,000 asylum seekers from predominantly Muslim countries entered Sweden.
In stark contrast to the “world’s first” feminist government’s ambition to create a truly gender-equal society, Sweden has seen a dramatic upsurge in rapes and sexual assault, with the spike reaching a mind-boggling 400 percent in parts of the country, compared with the pre-2000s.

A Muslim Afghan was found guilty of raping the young daughter of his Swedish girlfriend on several occasions when she was between the age of 7 and 9. The Swedish mother repeatedly received nightly phone calls from her panic-stricken daughter who did not want to be alone with the Afghan but never spoke against the man.

“I’ll be hanged if I’m extradited,” said the rapist, who converted to Christianity after he was faced with threat of expulsion.
Between September 2014 and July 2016, the 34-year-old Afghan was charged guilty of three cases of rape against the girl, born in 2007, in Karlskoga municipality. He is also convicted of gross sexual assault against the same girl in November 2016.
The abuse took place in the child’s home, wrote Swedish Television on the day that the sentence was handed down. The man was arrested after being missing for almost 10 months before the police could seize him.
The girl’s mother and Muslim refugee were a couple and lived together on occasion between 2014 and 2016. While the mother worked night shifts, the Afghan was alone in her apartment and was responsible for minding the children.
The girl recounted at the hearing that the first assault occurred in the basement of her brother’s room when she was seven years old and could not sleep. He allowed her to play with his cellphone “provided she did not tell anyone”. As she lay down and watched the cellphone, she felt the Afghan’s hand inside her panties and that he took her in the “snippan”.
She woke up on over ten occasions with the Afghan man between her legs. According to the girl, these sexual assaults occurred in 2015, when she was only in grade two.
When the mother went to Ullared in July 2016, the worst and second-last incident happened, the daughter told the court. The Afghan had pushed his finger inside her and assaulted her as well as binded her arms while trying to pull her hand to his sex.
The last incident occurred in the theater room in November 2016 when the mother worked three night shifts in a row. When the siblings were playing and were in the kitchen, the Afghan tried to “finger” the girl inside the trousers when she lay on the couch. It ended with him spitting on the carpet.

The girl’s mother has testified that the daughter “went up to the attic” when the Afghan man visited the first evening. At work, the mother received a call from the daughter, three consecutive nights. During the conversation, the girl was hysterical and panicked. The daughter said nothing about what happened, but told her she didn’t want to be alone with the Afghan.
The Afghan’s sexual assaults were revealed after the girl confided in her cousin about what she was exposed to and that the Afghan had shown her porn movies. She had threatened to kill herself if the cousin revealed to anyone about what had happened.
But eventually the cousin told their parents about the abuse, which led to the cousin’s dad making a police report.
Örebro District Court announced the verdict on January 15, 2018. The Afghan, who has an interpretation need for dari, is convicted of three counts of rape against children and one count of gross sexual abuse against children. The sentence was three years imprisonment and lifetime expulsion. He will also pay £180,000 in damages to the girl.
“I will be hanged if I’m forced to return,”
Says the 34-year-old, who arrived in Sweden in August 2013. His asylum applications were rejected three times with the latest being in December 2014. Despite this, he was still allowed to stay in the country and therefore was able to commit his crime against the Swedish girl between 2014 to 2016.
In June 2016, the Afghan man converted to Christianity. He did this as he hoped to get another chance to stay in Sweden. He became a member of the Swedish Church in January 2015, according to a so-called sneak article about the child abuser published in the local newspaper in 2016.

An Afghan immigrant in his 20’s is currently being charged with raping a minor girl in central Hallsberg in December. Reports indicate he plied the girl with alcohol before raping her. His crime is seen as particularly serious as the man was infected with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) at the time he committed his attack.

It was December 18 2017 that the accused rapist, a citizen of Afghanistan with a need for an interpretator, raped the 13-year-old girl in a public toilet in Hallsberg.
The man reportedly picked up the girl at her school and then purchased beer and whiskey that he groomed her with. When the girl became overly intoxicated from the alcohol, he started his attack on her.
The prosecutor believes that the 13-year-old was in a particularly vulnerable situation when she was heavily drunk in the moment. According to an alcohol test taken after the incident, the girl had a total of 1.9 percent of alcohol in the blood.
Several people have testified that the girl was drunk, but that the 20-year-old man prevented them from helping her.
Nobody had seen the rape itself.
The police have also identified DNA traces from the man on the girl. The prosecutor deems the crime as particularly serious when the man was infected with a sexually transmitted disease at the time he committed the rape.
The Afghan man, allegedly born in 1997, has acknowledged that he was in the toilet but denied that he knew how young the girl was or that he had raped her.
The prosecutor is asking that the man be expelled from the country after serving his sentence and forbidden to return to Sweden for ten years.

HUNGARY’S Prime Minister Viktor Orban has claimed “Christianity is Europe’s last hope” in a fiery speech in which he also took aim at “politicians in Brussels, Berlin and Paris” over migration.

Mr Orban said the European Union risks being “overrun” by mass immigration and “Islamic expansion” before calling for a global alliance to what he portrayed as a growing threat to the West.
And he insisted Hungary would help lead a fight against globalism alongside the UK, United States and Israel.
The Hungarian leader is expected to win a third consecutive landslide victory when the country heads to the polls on April 8.
In his annual state of the nation speech, Mr Orban claimed his government had “prevented the Islamic world from flooding us”.
Addressing cheering supporters, he depicted Hungary as a saviour of Europe’s Christian nations.
And as people continue to flee war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa, he insisted “Christianity is Europe’s last hope” before adding immigration, especially from Africa, could mean “our worst nightmares can come true”.
He said: “The West falls as it fails to see Europe being overrun.”
Mr Orban’s right-wing populist Fidesz party is running on a tough anti-immigration ticket and the 54-year-old has also received a favourable reaction for his combative attitude towards the European Union.

His government was responsible for erecting a double razor wire fence on its border in 2015 at the height of the migrant crisis in what became a symbol of the anti-migration sentiment in Europe.
Speaking at the Royal Castle in Budapest, Mr Orban said: “Absurd as it may sound the danger we face comes from the West, from politicians in Brussels, Berlin and Paris.”
His policies have been widely credited for turning Hungary’s economy around following the 2008 global market crash.
And praising the strength of the country’s finances, he said: “We sent the muzzle back to Brussels and the leash back to the IMF.”

He also targeted Hungarian-born US billionaire George Soros, who has worked to promote liberal, open border values.
In stark contrast, Mr Orban is a supporter of strong nation states and is staunchly against multiculturalism.
The pair have clashed previously as part of a long-running feud over their political views, with Mr Soros likening the Hungarian leader to both the Nazis and the Communists by saying his premiership evoked dark tones from the 1930s when the state was more oppressive than during its Cold War Soviet occupation.
Mr Orban said: “Soros has antagonised not only us but also England, President Trump and Israel too.
“Everywhere he wants to get migration accepted. It won’t work. “We are not alone and we will fight together… and we will succeed.”

A 23-year-old Muslim man from Syria has been charged with raping a 15-year-old girl at a party. He claims that the sexual intercourse was voluntary and consensual and that she seemed to be innocent when he felt her tampon. Now the Syrian is sentenced to imprisonment, but may be allowed to remain in Sweden after serving his time in prison.

On December 2, 2017, the Syrian was at a party for young people in the North Botkyrka. After a 15-year-old girl passed out due to intoxication and fell asleep, he locked her in a room and proceeded to rape her.
The man has appealed against the judgment to Svea Hovrätt.
The girl became intoxicated and had vomited on her clothes when the 23-year-old Syrian man helped to wash her in the bathroom. After he carried the girl into a room with a locked door, the girl’s friend heard some startling noises from within the room. In panic, she asked for the key and then managed to open the door.
The friend reported the Syrian to the police after he was found raping the girl vaginally. Police and ambulances were alerted to the apartment to investigate the incident and brought the victim to the hospital. After the rape, the young girl had suffered pain in her abdomen. She reportedly told people who attended the party who then became witnesses in the trial.
During police interrogation, the 23-year-old claimed that the girl, who was so intoxicated that she was barely conscious, was in fact, the initiator of sex and that all events that occured were voluntary. He further claims that he did not notice the girl was a virgin and presumed she wasn’t when he pushed his finger into her private parts and felt her tampon.

The girl’s friend has testified that the victim had said before the incident that she was not interested in the 23-year-old because he was “not her type”. From the rhetorical toxicology test, the girl was found with 2.0 percentile of alcohol in the blood at the time of the rape.
General documents show that the rapist is a citizen of Syria and has an interpreter in Arabic. He previously appeared in court under four counts in the load register. In August 2016 he was convicted of rattling, illegal driving and two cases of drug offenses that culminated in 4,000 kronor in fines.
On January 24, 2018, the Södertörn District Court announced the penalty sentence in the man’s rape case. The Syrian refugee was convicted of rape and drug offenses. He was sentenced to a mere two years and six months in prison. He has been ordered to pay $115,000 in damages to the girl. Because the prosecutor never sought expulsion from the country, he may remain in Sweden after serving his short penalty.

Today the threat against Sweden is greater than it has been for many years, writes former Säpo manager Anders Thornberg in the preamble to the Swedish Security Police’s annual book released today. He states that the biggest threat against Sweden comes from violent Islamists.

According to the Swedish Security Service, the security situation in Sweden has severely deteriorated and the threats to the country are greater now than they have been for many years.
This is outlined in the Security Policy Yearbook, released on Thursday.
“Today we have a new normality to deal with, an issue which we share with the rest of Europe. It is a development that concerns us deeply,” says deputy security police Charlotte von Essen in a press release.
The number of people in so-called extremist environments is continuing to grow and the figure has gone from hundreds to thousands in just a few years, according to Säpo.
Every other day, the authority is now tasked with handling investigations where a named person has expressed “attacks and threats” against Sweden.
“At present, the threat is greatest from the violent Islamist extremists,” Säpo writes, pointing out that there are approximately 2,000 people residing in Sweden who belong to the violent Islamist extremism.

“Our analysis claims that the most likely attack threat in Sweden in 2018 is still from single-acting individuals with a violent Islamic ideology,” he continues.
“Our complex mission to keep Sweden safe by preventing and discouraging threats, has never been greater. In order to complete the mission, good cooperation with other authorities, both in Sweden and abroad, is required as well as well-functioning and modern legislation,” says Charlotte von Essen.
According to the Swedish Security Service, “extensive work” is also in place to ensure that the election process and results of the autumn’s parliamentary elections will not be affected by any “foreign power”.
“The Swedish voting system is robust, decentralized and manual, and thus difficult to influence. We have a selection score that you can trust. But it is not guaranteed. We have taken and will continue to take a series of measures to secure the election,” says Susanna Trehörning, Security Commissioner’s Head of Mission for the election.

Yesterday in Enköping, the trial of three Muslims suspected of raping a 14-year-old girl began. The attack was carried out on a house roof in the middle of a bright day.

The attack occured on 29 October, when two recently arrived immigrants Bukuru Beninka Thibault, 16 and Subhi Yaser, 15 got into an argument with their girlfriends and decided to orchestrate an attack together on a female friend.
All three were friends, or at least were familiar with each other because they attended the same school. Thibault joined the victim in the afternoon on her way home and told her that he wanted to talk to the young girl. For the purpose of a private discussion, Thibault had suggested the roof of the youth house closeby that was accessible by a ladder on the side.

Once on the roof, the attackers moved quickly. Thibault, the stronger of the two boys, tore the girl’s clothes off and began to rape her. The girl was reportedly in severe shock after the brutal attack and could not move. But her ordeal was not over yet.
After the first rape had been carried out, Thibault hid in the bushes and called for two other men, Subhi Yaser and Mohammad Ziadl, to join. The two men climbed the roof where Yaser removed her clothes and raped her for a second time. Ziad did not join in the attack, but he encouraged the rape and photographed the attack with his cell phone.
When the ordeal was over, the girl was left alone. It took several hours before the girl confided to adults what had happened.
After the investigation began, both immigrant boys were imprisoned for a week, but then released to the public. Both claimed they did not do anything illegal and denied all accusations.
After the attack, the girl could no longer attend school. A majority of the population in the Enköping School blamed and threatened the 14 year old. Thibault and Yaser referred to the young girl as a whore and spread rumours throughout the school. According to them, the 14-year-old little girl was ‘asking for it’ and wanted to be with the two men and asked for the third man to record the event.
Eventually the girl entered into some sort of psychosis and she stopped going oudoors.
A senior official of the school took the rapists into special protection and they were offered a new school in Västerås, where the boys can go everyday by taxi.
The boys denied any crime. They told the court that they thought the girl wanted sex. The two are therefore accused of gross rape and the third man is charged with defamation

The number of Swedish citizens prosecuted and convicted of writing posts about immigrants on Facebook has increased significantly over the past year. Behind a large part of the reports and prosecutions is an organization called Näthats.

According to Svenska Dagbladet, the network consists of “lawyers, law students, former police and system developers”.
The network has developed software that allows anonymous members to search, identify and report people who criticize immigrants and refugee policy on social media platforms, such as Facebook.
Project leader Tomas Åberg says he is surprised at what he saw in connection with mass reports.
“We were surprised to see ladies over the age of 65 writing very, very rough things on Facebook,”

Until now, reports from the network analyst have so far resulted in 77 prosecutions in connection to political posts about immigrants, according to the newspaper. Free Times have only noted in recent months a large number of cases of Swedes charged with political opinions expressed on their Facebook page.
A 47-year-old man from Boden, for example, was convicted in October of a hatred against the community after calling the Ikea assassin a “negro”.
A woman in Luleå, aged 40, was charged in January for the same crime for her comment: “The last people to work in the world are Somalis”.
In February, a 55-year-old man in Jönköping was convicted of having written a Facebook post stating that Muslims were behind a large proportion of rape attacks in Sweden.

Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other internet companies must show the European Union within three months that they are removing extremist content more rapidly or face legislation forcing them to do so.

Several governments, like Sweden, have increased pressure on social media companies to do more to remove illegal content — from material related to groups such as Islamic state and incitement to commit atrocities — and the sector has increased efforts to demonstrate its progress.
But in its strongest call yet to the technology sector the European Commission on Thursday recommended measures that internet platforms should take to stop the proliferation of extremist content, including the removal of such material within an hour of being notified of its existence.
European governments have said that extremist content on the web has influenced lone-wolf attackers who have killed people in several European cities after being radicalised.
“While several platforms have been removing more illegal content than ever before … we still need to react faster against terrorist propaganda and other illegal content which is a serious threat to our citizens’ security, safety and fundamental rights,” Digital Commissioner Andrus Ansip said in Thursday’s statement.
European online trade association EDiMA, whose members include Google, Facebook and Twitter, said it was dismayed the Commission had not first chosen to engage in dialogue. A one-hour turn-around time might also not be workable, it said.
Sweden fears of possible Russian election meddling
The recommendation, which is non-binding but could be taken into account by European courts, sets guidelines on how companies should remove illegal content generally — from copyright infringements to hate speech — and advises a quicker reaction to extremist material.
The Commission said it would assess the need for legislation within three months for what it described as“terrorist content”, given the urgency of the issue. For all other types of illegal content it will assess progress made within six months.
Campaign group the Counter Extremism Project said the Commission’s proposal was welcome but did not tackle two issues – how to make automated technology widely available and how to stop extremists uploading again content that had been removed.
European Digital Rights, a civil rights group, described the Commission’s approach as putting internet giants in charge of censoring Europe. Only legislation would ensure democratic scrutiny and judicial review.
Luxury groups, meanwhile, welcomed the Commission’s move saying action by online platforms is also necessary to fight the sale of counterfeit goods online.
“Proactive measures coupled with good consumer information is the only way to effectively deal with illegal content online,” said Toni Belloni, group managing director of LVMH.

Sweden’s courts now require heavily increased funding from the government in order to continue to function as planned. As asylum immigration has prompted the courts to request for new funding.

Last year, the costs of Sweden’s courts increased by almost SEK 300 million and eventually totalled at SEK 6.8 billion. The increase in costs is mainly due to the fact that the number of cases in the Migration Courts has quickly jumped. The increase is expected to continue escalating into 2018.
“The increase in costs has been exceptionally strong. The reason for this is the wave of migration Sweden experienced in the fall of 2015, which was previously dealt with by the Swedish Migration Board but now it has reached the courts,” says Peter Yngve, Planning and Finance Director at the Swedish Court of Justice, to Sweden’s Radio.
Three years ago, court interpreters in criminal proceedings against a person cost SEK 13.7 million. Now that figure has increased by 120 percent, to SEK 30.2 million annually.
Sweden’s courts have therefore submitted new budget requirements to the government requesting around half a billion kronor in additional payments for the period 2019-2021.
If the requirements are not approved, the courts may be forced to withdraw from several planned investments, such as expanded security, Yngve explains.
On Tuesday, figures also showed a strong cost increase for interpreters in court. Three years ago, court interpreters in criminal proceedings against a person cost SEK 13.7 million. Now that figure has increased by a whopping 120 percent, to SEK 30.2 million.
As a result, the burden of additional crimes and trials in the migration courts will no doubt increase costs. In 2015 the cost of interpreters was 97 357 000 kronor, 111 344 000 kronor in 2016 and last year in 2017 the cost was 114 093 000 kronor.
In Södertälje alone the cost was 2.1 million SEK – only in interpretation costs.

In the Stockholm suburb of Varby Gard, it was not unusual to see the figure of a 63-year-old man pedaling a bicycle home after the end of his shift as an aide for disabled adults, hunched against the icy wind of a Swedish winter.

Daniel Cuevas Zuniga had just finished a night shift on a Sunday last month, and was cycling home with his wife, when he spotted a spherical object lying on the ground, stopped and reached down to take it in his hand.
It was an M-75 hand grenade. Manufactured in great numbers for the Yugoslav national army, and then seized by paramilitaries during the civil war in the 1990s, the grenades are packed with plastic explosives and 3,000 steel balls, well suited for attacks on enemy trenches and bunkers. When Mr. Zuniga touched it, he set off the detonator.
The shock wave was so powerful that Mr. Zuniga’s wife, Wanna, riding ahead of him, was blown off her bicycle and sprawled on the ground, mottled with shrapnel wounds. She turned and tried to crawl toward her husband, she told a reporter later, but the police, who had been patrolling nearby, kept her back.

Weapons from a faraway, long-ago war are flowing into immigrant neighborhoods here, puncturing Swedes’ sense of confidence and security. The country’s murder rate remains low, by American standards, and violent crime is stable or dropping in many places. But gang-related assaults and shootings are becoming more frequent, and the number of neighborhoods categorized by the police as “marred by crime, social unrest and insecurity” is rising. Crime and immigration are certain to be key issues in September’s general election, alongside the traditional debates over education and health care.
Part of the reason is that Sweden’s gang violence, long contained within low-income suburbs, has begun to spill out. In large cities, hospitals report armed confrontations in emergency rooms, and school administrators say threats and weapons have become commonplace. Last week two men from Uppsala, both in their 20s, were arrested on charges of throwing grenades at the home of a bank employee who investigates fraud cases.
An earlier jolt came with the death of Mr. Zuniga, who on Jan. 7 picked up the grenade, which the police believe had been thrown by members of a local gang targeting a rival gang or police officers.
Paulus Borisho, 55, was in his kebab shop around 50 feet away, and the explosion made his windows shudder. He ran outside to see a thin column of black smoke rising. Mr. Zuniga lay on the bike path, curled on his side.
Like many of his neighbors in Varby Gard, Mr. Borisho had sought asylum in Sweden to escape a war. He knew what a grenade sounded like. As a commando in a Lebanese militia, he had handled grenades, and remembered the strict protocols he complied with, locking up the weapons for safe keeping the minute he returned to camp.
That a grenade should be found on the sidewalk outside a kebab shop, a few steps from an elementary school, was difficult for him to take in.
“Now, when I think of the future, I am afraid,” he said. “I am afraid for Europe.”
Illegal weapons often enter Sweden over the Oresund Bridge, a 10-mile span that links the southern city of Malmo to Denmark. When it opened, in 2000, the bridge symbolized the unfurling of a vibrant, borderless Europe, but in recent years it has been more closely associated with smuggling, of people, weapons and drugs.
The influx of heavy weapons has caught Sweden’s criminal justice systems unprepared.
The border with Denmark is open, with insufficient personnel to search every vehicle entering the country. Hand grenades were, until last year, classified as “flammable products” rather than weapons, so sentences for detonating them were mild. The police are struggling to gather information in immigrant neighborhoods, and clearance rates for gun homicide cases have fallen steadily since the 1990s.
“We have lost the trust from the people who lived and worked in this area,” said Gunnar Appelgren, a police superintendent and specialist in gang violence.
Sweden’s far right-wing party blames the government’s liberal immigration policy for the rising crime, and will thrust the issue to the fore in the fall campaign.
Last year, Peter Springare, 61, a veteran police officer in Orebro, published a furious Facebook post saying violent crimes he was investigating were committed by immigrants from Muslim countries like “Iraq, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Somalia, Syria again, Somalia, unknown country, unknown country, Sweden.” It was shared more than 20,000 times; Mr. Springare has since been investigated twice by state prosecutors, once for inciting racial hatred, though neither resulted in charges.
Even President Trump weighed in on the issue, saying that after taking in “large numbers” of immigrants, Sweden was “having problems like they never thought possible.”
Police officials are more likely to attribute gang violence to a failure of integration, citing a recent study of a Swedish street gang that found 24 percent of its members were ethnic Swedes, and 42 percent had been born in Sweden.

But they, too, see an urgent problem.
Affixed to the wall in Mr. Appelgren’s office in Stockholm’s Police Headquarters is a chart showing the increase in the use of hand grenades. Until 2014 there were about a handful every year. In 2015, that number leapt: 45 grenades were seized by the police, and 10 others were detonated. The next year, 55 were seized and 35 detonated. A modest decrease occurred in 2017, when 39 were seized and 21 were detonated.
Mr. Appelgren has watched the trend apprehensively, calling it an arms race among gangs.
“I think we’re going to see, if we don’t stop it, more drive-by shootings with Kalashnikovs and hand grenades,” he said. “They throw rocks and bottles at our cars, and they trick us in an ambush. When will it happen that they ambush us with Kalashnikovs? It’s coming.”
Much of the problem is the supply of surplus weapons. The Dayton peace agreement, which ended the Bosnian war, required paramilitaries to disarm and decommission their arsenals. Sellers in Bosnia and Serbia have networks in Sweden’s diaspora and are so eager to unload excess grenades, often rusted from decades in storage, that they throw them in free with the purchase of AK-47s, Mr. Appelgren said. In Sweden the street price of a hand grenade is 100 kroner, or $12.50.
“It’s odd,” said Manne Gerell, a lecturer in criminology at Malmo University. “I don’t know of any Western country with a similar use of hand grenades. Our hypothesis is that they are used to send a message. Not so much as a weapon, as a tool for intimidation. You don’t need perfect aim. You are not trying to kill a particular person.”
As for Mr. Zuniga, on the January morning when he spotted the object in his path, he had finally made a big decision.
Sweden had been good to him. He had emigrated from Chile in 1985, as part of a wave of left-leaning Chileans allowed into Sweden by Olof Palme, a liberal prime minister and passionate opponent of Chile’s authoritarian president at the time, Augusto Pinochet.
Mr. Zuniga found work as a health aide, most recently caring for adults with severe disabilities and Alzheimer’s disease. He was a genial bear of a man who called everyone by a nickname — Bandito, Diablo, Loco, Feya — and no one, not even the stone-faced Swedish head nurses, could resist him.
But lately, Mr. Zuniga had complained that he did not feel safe in his neighborhood.
Varby Gard has produced a street gang, the Varby Gard Network, which the police have been monitoring for two years. It is led by a Tunisian man and populated by first- and second-generation immigrants from Finland, the Balkans and others Muslim countries, said Lars Broms, a detective who is investigating Mr. Zuniga’s death. Intent on protecting its monopoly on the local drug trade, it is fluid and loosely organized, but like other suburban gangs in Sweden, it is developing quickly, he said.
“Give them 20 years, and we’ll have the same as in L.A.,” Mr. Broms said.
On Tuesday, the police arrested two 18-year-old men on suspicion of throwing the grenade that killed Mr. Zuniga.
Mr. Zuniga had complained about the changes in Varby Gard, frustrated that the police did not have better control, friends said. A music lover, he no longer went out to concerts at night, said Hugo Garrido, 60, a close friend.
“Crime is increasing and increasing, and they aren’t doing anything about it,” Mr. Garrido said. “It’s denial. Swedes are very good people and they want to change the world. They want the rest of the world to be like Sweden. And the reality is that it’s completely different.”
So Mr. Zuniga, who was nearing retirement, had planned his exit, squirreling money away to build a house in Thailand, where his wife’s family lived. He told friends he planned to go in April.
Instead, on a recent Sunday his mourners streamed into an unadorned stone-colored chapel in a Stockholm cemetery, overflowing the pews and standing in the aisles. A light snow was falling outside. His son, Daniel, sent a note from Chile, calling him “my old sea wolf.”
His daughter, Natalia, said she would give anything to drink one more cup of coffee with him. Wanna, a tiny woman with hair nearly down to her waist, stood at the foot of the coffin, her face stretched into a mask of grief. After that she collected herself.
“He reiterated that if he died, I must return to Thailand,” she said of her husband. “He didn’t want me to live here after he died. He told me to sell the house and just leave.”
Peter Springare is deeply concerned. The criminals are getting into position. Cracks are appearing in the police force. Increased violence against the police. All of these as a whole are clear signs of a very serious development into chaos, while at the same time enchanting in the media and engaging in Baghdad Bob rhetoric about what is happening.

Women in Sweden love their country. But recently, their picturesque cityscape has seen an increase in violence, specifically against young girls and women.
Around that same time, in 2015, more than 160-thousand people (Muslim Arab Immigrants) applied for asylum in Sweden from war-torn countries in the Middle East and Africa.
“Sweden has changed very much. It has never been like this.” – Katerina Janouch
Documenting the increase of sex crimes against women, Katerina Janouch told Inside Your World she believes it’s crippled her country.
“Frozen fright – when you are raped and you can’t move in frozen fright – that’s what I consider this country is now. It doesn’t know how to handle it.”
She said the rise in violence against women is a new phenomenon.
In the southern city of Malmö, local media reports there have been four reported gang rapes since November 2017.

According to reports, all four happened overnight in the early-morning hours.
As of this posting, there were no arrests, which has left some feeling alarmed.
Here are some women who describe their thoughts on the reports:
“I mean, I don’t walk a lot at night.”
“I wish it wouldn’t be that way, and I’m terrible about the rapes.”
“I know it’s very bad things happening here.”
Police aren’t sure if the incidents are all connected; part of their challenge, some say, is self-inflicted.
“That’s one of political correctness.” – Former Swedish Police member
A former officer, who agreed to speak with Inside Your World on condition we conceal his identity, said he feels this practice isn’t right, and doesn’t help keep the community safe.
“I think they should be more accurate for the people to describe the person who’s done that – don’t take any excuses and a real description so people can be aware what they look out for.”
Government stats in Sweden don’t provide those details either.
“Of course not everybody is a criminal, but when you don’t tell who is committing a crime, then you’re afraid of everyone,” said Janouch.
Janouch has a simple message to people who don’t believe that Sweden is facing new challenges as a result of a mass immigration influx: talk to a victim.
“Look into the eyes of those people and tell them it’s not a problem, people are completely safe because, you know, Swedes they are trust other people bc they haven’t had reason not to do that.”
When asked if it was too late for her country, Janouch said she’s optimistic, though others may not be.
“There are some people who think we’ve reached the point of no return.”

Germany: Making immigrants speak local language (2014)
Proposal In 2014, just prior to the seismic migrant influx of the following year, the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU), the influential regional sister party to Angela Merkel’s CDU, introduced a “well-prepared and widely backed” proposal that both recent arrivals and established immigrant communities must communicate in German both in public and in private to aid integration, and to help their children catch up with locals in school.

Results While the sentiment may have played well with the party’s conservative base, the idea set off a storm of rage and ridicule, not least from the CSU’s coalition partners, who accused the party of “cultural dementia.” The CSU backtracked almost immediately, saying that its proposals had been “misunderstood,” and were never intended to be mandatory. In 2016, Germany adopted a new Integration Law that provides financial incentives for those attending language and civics courses, and allows the government to allocate any newcomers away from immigrant-heavy areas to prevent ghetto creation.
Proposal As he campaigned for his one-term presidency, Nicolas Sarkozy outlined a typically grandiose vision of a “new Marshall Plan” for France’s ghettoized banlieues, still alienated in the aftermath of the 2005 riots. The candidate promised a top-to-bottom makeover – better transport links, more jobs, second-chance schools and a promise to the poorly-educated, largely unemployed population of “access to every position of responsibility, including the very highest.”

Proposal Party for Freedom leader Geert Wilders has long called Islam an “existential threat” to Western civilization, while accusing Muslim immigrants of wreaking ”street terror” upon communities where they constitute a noticeable percentage. As his party surged into the lead ahead of the 2017 parliamentary election, he published a manifesto that would “de-Islamize” the Netherlands. Among the proposals: a stripping of all licenses for mosques and Islamic schools, a ban of the Koran, and a denaturalization of dual-nationality criminals, coupled with a revocation of all asylum permits.

Recently someone complained on Facebook about the rapes committed by Muslim migrants. He was fined over $1,000 for committing the crime of expressing his opinion!
In another case, a Swedish police officer reported that foreign-born offenders are responsible for the gang rape problem. The response? The police officer was suspended.
This country has gone and is going absolutely crazy. Instead of prosecuting the rapists they are prosecuting people for telling the truth!

A 59-year-old man from the Middle East raped a young woman at a party in Malmö. and tried to argue that he raped her in his sleep and therefore was not responsible for his crime.

The court however did not buy his defence.
According to the judgment, the crime allegedly took place when the 59-year-old in December 2016 attended a party with a group of young adults on Lönngatan in Malmö.
The woman became intoxicated and once she was unconscious, the older man, originally from Iran, raped heri through vaginal and anal intercourse.
The next day when the woman realized what had happened, she went to the hospital and filed a police report.
During police interrogation, the 59-year-old initially claimed that the woman was acting and trying to trick him into giving her money.

When he found out that they found traces of his sperm in the rape kit, he instead launched another theory.
“I could have had sex with her in my sleep,”
he said during the trial.
Malmö District Court finds it “unreasonable” that the 59-year-old man was asleep when he “rose from his bed, went to another room where the woman was lying asleep on a couch, removed her blanket, taken off her pants and panties, raped her through vaginal and anal intercourse, arranged her attire, laid the blanket over her, returned to his bedroom and laid down in bed.”
The man, who has become a national in Sweden and therefore can not be expelled under current legislation, has been sentenced to two years in prison for his rape. He will also pay 120,000 in damages to the raped woman.

A clip uploaded on YouTube account shows how Donald Trump tells Stefan Löfven that Sweden has “problem with immigration”. Now Expressen has expressed outrage against the clip being shown to Youtube users.

announced Trump during the press conference.
Because the clip is popular (it has collected over 72,000 views), it appears recommended for other YouTube users because of site logarithms.
This has caused great anger at Bonniertidningen Expressen.
“Videos from Hatsajten Free Times have been chosen by Youtube as important and relevant to viewers – it quickly became one of the trending videos that plays automatically for those who search and view videos with Stefan Löfven,” Expressen writes in an article on Thursday.
The newspaper also regrets that people watching clips with Center Party leader Annie Lööf are then exposed to videos of the Swedish Democrats election film on Youtube.
“There is often a hidden and dirty agenda behind a lot of these cliffs that figure,” Expressen has managed to get Annie Lööf to say.
Bonnier magazines have been aggressively pushing Google for nearly two weeks to drive the American network giant to introduce tougher political censorship.

The hip hop artist Ken Ring gives an interview in Norwegian NRK where he paints a very gloomy picture of social development in Sweden. He states that he plans to move to Africa – because in his opinion, it is now safer there compared to Sweden.

“Within 20 years we have open war on the streets of Stockholm,” he reveals.
In the program “Trygdekontoret” in NRK, Ken Ring remembers when the community in the Stockholm suburb of Hässelby was relatively calm and safe. But the situation has been totally turned upside down since then.
“Today it is an open gang war. My big brother was murdered,” the rapper quietly recalls.
He describes a new everyday life suffered by the residents of Hasselby, characterized by gross violent crime, open drug trafficking and action-abused authorities.
However, the power-makers who continue to celebrate their supposed “social development” are themselves at a proper distance from violence and turmoil they have created, Ken Ring states.
“Giving speeches to journalists, sitting with their families and enjoying their lives- these people have never ever sat down in Rinkeby,” Hässelby tells Fittja.
At the same time, the number of immigrants from the third world only continues to increase exponentially and, as some have suggested, uncontrollably.

“We have taken as much immigrants as possible and introduced as many people as we can into the suburb, and it’s just getting more and more and more. And this will crack,” continues Ken Ring.
He explains why he is thinking about moving to Africa.
“It’s safer there. My son is nine years old and he asks me, “Dad, why is it more dangerous in Hässelby than in Nairobi, Kenya?” It’s our new normal.
Ken Ring’s view of Sweden‘s future is bequest – he claims there are traces of the beginning of a civil war.
“I think it’s too late, that it’s not possible to change. That it’s done. Within 20 years we will have open war on the streets of Stockholm.”
As early as 2009, Ken Ring raised his concerns when he warned of growing integration and social developments in Sweden. In an interview with Malou von Siver, he then introduced the now-popular theory that Sweden may have received too many immigrants.

Immigration has significant consequences in society, not in the least high economic costs. However, an impact that has not been taken into account previously is the environmental impact. This is from a series of studies conducted by Swedish researchers and professors at SvD Debatt.

They believe that the high immigration rate that Sweden has experienced in recent years will cause serious negative environmental effects.
The environmental party is one of Sweden’s most immigrant liberal parties, despite the fact that increased immigration is having negative impacts upon the environment. More than many might think.
Environmental reasons call for a much more limited immigration policy, according to several Swedish researchers and professors in an article on SvD Debatt.
According to the article, previous research has not taken into consideration the environmental impact of the immigration and population policy undertaken.
“Important perspectives are lacking in the debate on migration and immigration. A country’s population policy has major consequences for environmental issues such as consumption, resource consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and exploitation of nature,” says the article.
The researchers believe that the major immigration that Sweden has undertaken in the last 15 years will have “serious negative environmental impacts”.
With immigration, consumption increases in several ways, thus increasing the environmental impact, including increased greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, green areas and productive arable land are reduced in cities and in urban areas.

The authors point out that Sweden needs at least 80,000 new homes per year. According to Boverket’s forecast, an additional 100,000 more inhabitants are expected annually “for the foreseeable future, driven by migration”.
Unless immigration reduces sharply, the entire climate policy that the red-green government claims to be doing is counteracting, the researchers write.
They advocate an option where immigration is at most about 25,000 people a year, a figure far below the number of immigrants Sweden has agreed to recieve in recent years.
According to the researchers, the Swedish people should be informed of how immigration affects the environment, and what options are available on the issue.

I’m a Rotherham grooming gang survivor. I call myself a survivor because I’m still alive. I’m part of the UK’s largest ever child sexual abuse investigation. As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white c***” as they beat me.

They made it clear that because I was a non-Muslim, and not a virgin, and because I didn’t dress “modestly”, that they believed I deserved to be “punished”. They said I had to “obey” or be beaten.
Fear of being killed, and threats to my parents’ lives, made it impossible for me to escape for about a year. The police didn’t help me.
As I write this, it has been widely reported that a letter has been sent to Muslim groups around the country declaring a national “Punish a Muslim” day; elsewhere, the leaders of Britain First have been found guilty of religiously aggravated harassment.
In mainland Europe, conflict surrounding immigrants and refugees has been fuelled by stories of women being raped by migrants. People have been calling for violent attacks against “any Muslims” and have declared “war on Islam”.
Islamophobic online hate and personal attacks occur every day. In response, anti-fascist groups and the “far left” have carried out their own violent attacks on groups they perceive to comprise “white supremacists” or “Nazis”.
As someone who has experienced life inside a grooming gang, I can tell you with certainty that none of this is likely to make any difference to the behaviours of groomers. Like terrorists, they firmly believe that the crimes they carry out are justified by their religious beliefs.
If anything, rising anti-Muslim hate will probably make groomers stronger in their convictions, and drive ordinary young Muslim men towards fundamentalism, grooming gangs and terrorism. The camaraderie, protection, money, and kudos that these groups offer, makes them a strong pull for anyone. Worryingly, several young men I have spoken to joke that being a gangster and going to jail are their “life goals”.
However big or small the problem of grooming gang crime is, it is big enough to warrant national concern, not only because of the severity of crimes, but because of the degree of terror and threats to life involved. This really does devastate lives, families and communities. We don’t even talk about the non-survivors.
Experts say that grooming gangs are not the same as paedophile rings. It’s something that central Government really needs to understand in order to prevent more grooming gang crime in the future.
In November 2017, the Swedish government held a meeting where they stated that: “Sexual violence is being used as a tactic of terrorism”, and as such, it was recognised as a threat to Sweden’s national security.
The link between terrorism and rape undertaken by Islamist gangs was not being ignored. They called for counter-extremism education. This sounds like a balanced and intelligent governmental response to me.

Religious indoctrination is a big part of the process of getting young men involved in grooming gang crime. Religious ideas about purity, virginity, modesty and obedience are taken to the extreme until horrific abuse becomes the norm. It was taught to me as a concept of “othering”.
“Muslim girls are good and pure because they dress modestly, covering down to their ankles and wrists, and covering their crotch area. They stay virgins until marriage. They are our girls.
“White girls and non-Muslim girls are bad because you dress like slags. You show the curves of your bodies (showing the gap between your thighs means you’re asking for it) and therefore you’re immoral. White girls sleep with hundreds of men. You are the other girls. You are worthless and you deserve to be gang-raped.”
This hateful religious hypocrisy strikes people to their very core. But it’s far from unique. My main perpetrator quoted scriptures from the Quran to me as he beat me. However, almost identical scriptures (about the stoning to death of virgins who don’t scream when they are raped) can also be found in the Bible.
The problem isn’t the text itself; it’s how it’s fundamentally interpreted. In fact, there are many cases of Bible quotes being used to justify terrible human injustices, like the enslavement of people from Africa, antisemitism and violence towards LGBT+ people.
All the major world religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism, have also at some time been associated with extreme human rights abuses against men, women and children.
I experienced horrific, religiously sanctioned sexual violence and torture – so I definitely believe that we need to be aware of religious extremism as something potentially harmful, so that we can protect people from it.

But for Tommy Robinson and his followers to focus on an entire religion, based on the cruel interpretations of some scriptures by some people, is unhelpful, to say the least. Many of his religious theories and conjecture are not anything that I can relate to in my real life experiences.
Most grooming gang survivors I know absolutely condemn anti-Islamic hate, and we’re uncomfortable with English Defence League protests. We certainly don’t want random attacks on “all Muslims”. You can’t cure harm with more harm. Free-thinking men from Pakistani Muslim backgrounds, like Nazir Afzal, agree, and many deal with all of this incredibly graciously.
As a Rotherham grooming gang survivor, I am told that both child protection services and the prosecution of offenders is improving in most areas. But frustratingly, prevention hasn’t really begun.
I witnessed the ways young men are groomed to become perpetrators by older grooming gang members. It’s very similar to the tactics used in grooming for terrorism, with love-bombing, emotive language (“brother”, “cuz”, “blud”), and promises of wealth and fame, then humiliation, controlling with guilt and shame, training with weapons, and instilling hate and fear of outsiders.
Always, at the same time, they continue to convince these young men that they must find girls to be gang-raped too.
Grooming gang crime is upheld by religious extremism. Like Sweden, we must officially recognise this, and work to curb extremist preaching, teach religious counter-narratives, give gendered extremism education and deliver quality relationships education, while learning the lessons from Prevent and Channel. We need a careful, considered approach that is respectful of the human rights of everyone.
